Essential Details began as an event planning company in 2003 with two employees. What started as an idea between two friends connected by their children’s school activities has blossomed into a successful multi-service destination management/event planning and design company. Our company continues to expand and meet the needs of our clients in Louisville and around Kentucky.
Essential Details believes in putting our team’s valuable experiences, skills sets and talents to work for our clients’ benefit. Our multidimensional approach to planning includes staff that researches, designs, creates and executes unique events on any scale for a broad range of clients, which include corporations, associations, weddings and high-profile social events.

Sheryl Thompson, our Director of Meetings and Events, plans meetings and events for corporate clients and associations such as United States Equestrian Federation, Breeders’ Cup, Disney, Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, National League of Postmasters, Fastline Publications, Ace Interactive and the Kentucky Restaurant Association. Sheryl received her Certified Meeting Professional designation in August 2010 after meeting the qualifications to take the exam. The Kentucky Bluegrass Chapter of Meeting Professionals International awarded her the “Rising Star of the Year” award in June 2010. She served on the 2010-2011 MPI Board as the Director of Fundraising. Sheryl lives in LaGrange, Kentucky and enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter.
Jessica Leisl, Event Manager, Designer, and Wedding Coordinator
Jessica Leisl graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Design from the University of Cincinnati, DAAP. Using her extensive background in design, Jessica has managed, coordinated, and designed weddings and events in both Cincinnati and Louisville. Before joining the Essential Details team, she worked with Horseshoe Southern Indiana as an Event Coordinator and Allure Events as an Event Designer. Jessica is an active member of the Association of Bridal Consultants. Jessica enjoys baking and spending time with her husband and 2 dogs.
Joanne Caridis, Business Development
Joanne brings over 15 years of sales, marketing and training experience to her business development position with Essential Details. Prior to joining our team, she worked with Federated Investors and Macmillan/McGraw-Hill. In addition to being a certified wedding planner, Joanne has also contributed her design talents and event management proficiency for many of our social and corporate clients.
Wendy Palazzo, Business Development
Wendy Palazzo is on board with Essential Details in a business development position. She is brand new to our company with past experience as a catering manager and marketing executive with The Brown Hotel in Downtown Louisville. Her clientele and areas of focus included social events, local corporate and national corporate accounts. She will be concentrating on developing new business by connecting with corporate and social markets. Wendy enjoys running and being homemaker to her husband and 4 children.
Jennifer Wishnevski, Event Coordinator
Jennifer Wishnevski has been an Event Coordinator with Essential Details since 2004. Her background includes nine years working in the medical field with a Bachelors of Science degree in Medical Technology. In addition to coordinating a wide array of events for Essential Details’ clients Jennifer enjoys keeping up with the sports and art-filled lives of her family.
Cathy Clore, Administrative Assistant
Cathy Clore began with Essential Details in 2007. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and History, and has had her work appear in The Louisville Review, as well as other literary publications. She and her husband are renovating an 180-year-old farmhouse in Oldham County, Kentucky.
